Double Flanged Taper
1. Scope
This specification covers the minimum requirements for the design, materials, manufacture, testing and inspection of Ductile Iron Flanged Tapers.
2. Applicable Standards
The latest editions of the following standards shall be applicable:
- ASTM A536 – Standard Specification for Ductile Iron Castings
- AWWA C110 – Ductile-Iron and Gray-Iron Fittings for Water
- AWWA C115 – Flanged Ductile-Iron Pipe with Ductile-Iron or Gray-Iron Threaded Flanges
- ASME B16.1 – Gray Iron Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings: Classes 25, 125, and 250
- ASME B16.42 – Ductile Iron Pipe Flanges and Flanged Fittings: Classes 150 and 300
3. Materials
- Body and Flanges: Ductile Iron Grade 65-45-12 as per ASTM A536
- Gaskets: Rubber gaskets as per AWWA C111
- Bolting: Carbon Steel as per ASTM A307 Grade B
4. Design Requirements
- The tapers shall be of eccentric or concentric type as required
- Size range shall be 3” to 48”
- Pressure rating shall be 150 psi minimum per AWWA C115
- Flange dimensions shall be as per ASME B16.1 or ASME B16.42
- Flange drilling shall be per ASME B16.5 150# template
5. Manufacturing and Testing

- The tapers shall be manufactured using the centrifugal casting process as per AWWA C110
- All components shall be hydrostatically tested before assembly
- Dimensions shall conform to AWWA C110 requirements
- Material certification shall be provided as per ASTM A536
